The Beautiful St. Lucia

I recently spent a week at Coconut Bay Resort in St. Lucia. My sister got married here during our stay, and the resort was nothing short of incredible. The wedding was absolutely perfect as was the rest of the week. We flew in and out of Hewanorra airport, which is small and uncomfortable but gets the job done. The resort was less than a 10 minute shuttle ride away.

THE RESORT

The resort is beautiful, there is plenty of room for pools, beaches, and bars. You are never at a loss for a chair to relax in or a place to hang out. The water slides and lazy river provide a great family environment (I think I enjoyed the water slides more than the children!). The adult pool and beach are very relaxing with plenty of servers walking around to bring drinks at your request.

For some more excitement you can spend time down the beach canoeing, paddle boarding, or playing beach volleyball which is included in the price of your stay.

FOOD AND DRINKS

Compared to many all inclusive resorts, the bar tenders at Coconut Bay are not shy on making you a strong drink! This alcohol is definitely not watered down and drinking is encouraged . The restaurant and buffet food is decent but do not expect food 24/7; other than meal times it was a little difficult to find a good snack. It is a little difficult to get dinner reservations but the buffet food is good enough and allows you to eat on your own schedule. If you are spending time here be sure to hit the pasta bar in the buffet and drink plenty of yummy coconut water.

BEDROOMS

The rooms are clean, beds are very comfortable. However; traveling for a wedding with about 40 guests, more than half of our bed situations were messed up (rooms with 2 beds or 1). Upon your complaints if necessary the staff are friendly calm and usually accommodating.

EXPLORING ST. LUCIA

If you visit St. Lucia you MUST visit the sulfur spring. I can not stress this enough!! This experience was unlike any other. In this same tour we also stopped to swim in a beautiful waterfall, view the Piton volcano, and snorkel in the incredible Caribbean Sea.

We also hired a driver to take us to the side of St. Lucia where the cruise ships come in, here we did some shopping at the Castries market, stopped to eat local food, and drove through the Rain forest.

Left hotel one night for dinner at Hotel Chocolat, the food and view were out of this world! Staff is polite and friendly. CLICK HERE to view some options of touring the island.

THE PEOPLE

In my time in St. Lucia I did not once run into an unhappy person. Everyone is joyful, smiling, and eager to make your stay perfect. Both in and out of the resort you would think there is not a worry in the world. St. Lucian people really make this place paradise and I was not looking forward to my flight back to crazy New York.
