The key to finding cheap flights is to search search search. Usually I will look for flights for at least a couple of weeks before booking a trip to make sure I am getting a good deal. I check various resources and websites before booking.

Have a flexible date

If you are willing to change the dates of your trip and fly at odd times, you are going to have an easier time finding flight deals. Be sure to select the flexible dates option when searching for flights. Always consider red-eyes! They may not be ideal but hey, it gets the job done...and you can sleep on the plane!!! You will even arrive on time to start your day in a new destination.

When to search

Many flights go on sale on Tuesdays around 3PM, not sure why this is but its good to keep in mind! Check for flights on your Tuesday lunch break, or right after work.

Fly on a Wednesday! Wednesdays are generally the cheapest days to fly. most people fly out on weekends, but whats the difference? plus it will save you some extra cash to spend on your trip.

Sign up for emails & download APPS

Many airlines will allow you to sign up for emails, the emails will send you cheap deals and sometimes you can select the locations you're interested in to only receive emails for those flights; How convenient!!!

Download the APPS. I use Hopper but sometimes I can still find cheaper flights on my own, Hopper doesn't include all airlines (like Jet Blue) and sometimes these airlines offer better prices on their website. Also be sure to note the layovers on the flights offered on APPs as sometimes they are way too long.
